Audrey Susan Spictzler, age 81, of Stratford, CT, entered into eternal rest in the early morning of Saturday, December 28, 2019 at her home with her loving family by her side. Audrey was born in Newport, RI on November 29, 1938, the biological daughter of the late Ralph Taylor and Susan Ireland. Susan later married Robert Dunford and was a long time volunteer for the American Red Cross. Audrey is the loving mother of David Macaulay, Jr. (of Stratford, CT) and James Macaulay and his wife Doreen (of Shelton, CT). She is also survived by her sisters Lawrey (Dunford) Adams (husband Tom) of NJ. She also had a sister Beverly Dunford, and brother Robert Jr. Dunford. Audrey was a nurturing, caring, and extremely proud Grandmother to Andrew and Andrea Macaulay, whom she loved with all her heart. Andrew is a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University, obtained his BS Degree in Business Management and currently resides in Shelton, CT. Andrea is a graduate of Sacred Heart University, College of Nursing, BS in Nursing, and currently resides in West Lebanon, NH. Audrey is also survived by several cherished nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her 1st husband David Macaulay Sr. and her 2nd husband Matthew Spictzler, her younger sisters Nancy (Taylor) Harrison and Donna (Dunford) Florence (survived by her life partner Jack Jacques).
Audrey was a Stratford resident for most of her life. In the late 1970’s, she held a position at the Connecticut Bank of Bridgeport. She later took a position at Jenkins Valve Company for several years in the 1980’s. She then became a stay at home mom. In her spare time, Audrey also enjoyed and loved her charity work making a difference in the lives of children, seniors and communities. She was a 15-year member of The Loyal Order of The Moose Lodge (Stratford) - An International Organization of Men and Women Dedicated to Caring for Young and Old, Bringing Communities Closer Together, and Celebrating Life. She was a valued participant in the Women of the Moose, Chapter #193, who’s members work in harmony with the members of the Moose to provide a helping hand to those in need. She also held the title of Senior Regent of the Ladies. In addition, she earned her Green Cap, several Moose pins and was presented a plaque recognizing her nomination as International Co-Worker of the year in 2006. Some of Audrey’s additional activities with the Lodge and Ladies Auxiliary, included bartending (10 years), and assisting in Lodge Parties and Bingo games.
Friends may call on Thursday, from 4 to 7 pm at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St., Derby. Her funeral service will be held at 7 pm at the parlor. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Friends may leave condolences at www.adzimafh.com.
